The Portugal national team player was the recipient of the first goal of the game that set Manchester United on their way to a 2-0 away win over Premier League table toppers Manchester City. Bruno Fernandes had the chance to score from the penalty spot inside the first two minutes after Manchester United forward Anthony Martial was brought down by Gabriel Jesus in the Manchester City box and he made no mistake though Manchester City goalkeeper Ederson Moraes got a hand to his penalty. From that point, Manchester City never recovered from that deficit. Manchester City struggled to fashion out clear-cut opportunities as the Red Devils were defensively sound. One of the Manchester United defenders Luke Shaw was responsible to the second goal off the assist from Marcus Rashford. The two Three Lions of England combined to give the visitors a cushion at the start of the second half. Manchester United were able to preserve their 2-0 advantage till the end of the game. The win made it three successive victories for Manchester United at Manchester City in the last three seasons. They were able to take four points off Manchester City and also reduce their lead at the Premier League summit to 11 points with ten matches left to play this season.

For Portugal international playmaker Bruno Fernandes, he has now scored 16 goals in the Premier League this term to take him within one goal of leading goalscorer Mohamed Salah who drew blank this weekend. Salah was unable to add to his 17 league goals as his Liverpool team suffered a 1-0 home defeat to Fulham on Sunday.
