Manchester United hitman Cristiano Ronaldo has made the 11-man shortlist for the FIFA Best Men’s Player of the Year Award. The Portugal international was named on the list of nominees for the award as revealed by world football’s governing body, FIFA on Monday.

Portugal national team star Ronaldo made the top three for the same award last year. He was beaten to the award in 2020 by Bayern Munich striker Robert Lewandowski. The Portugal international finished second, while new Paris Saint Germain (PSG) signing Lionel Messi completed the top three.

The top three players from the award last year were named on the list of nominees for this year’s award. The others on the list are the PSG duo of Neymar and KylianMbappe, Manchester City star Kevin De Bruyne, Liverpool attacker Mohamed Salah, Borussia Dortmund hitman ErlingHaalandand Real Madrid striker Karim Benzema. The Chelsea midfield duo of N’GoloKante and Jorginho also made the 11-man nominees’ list after leading the Blues to the Champions League title at the end of last season. Chelsea emerged as the reigning European champions by beating Manchester City via a lone goal in the final. In addition, Jorginho was a major part of the Italy midfield as they won the Euro 2020 tournament by seeing off England on penalties in the final after the two teams scored a goal each.

Portugal national team player Ronaldo became a Manchester United player this summer following his transfer from Juventus in the Italian Serie A.The five-time BallonD’or winner had one year left on his contract with the Old Lady before he informed club officials that it was time for him to leave.Manchester United won the race to sign Ronaldo ahead of Manchester City. He has since scored nine goals in all competitions on his return to the club.
